Infoglue 3.0 introduces a new search tool which is more general than the old internal search which only worked for content. As it is a global tool it now has it's own tab in the top as the other tools do. We considered putting a search-field in the GUI directly but this approach has several benefits (keep search results while switching between tools, utilizing screen size etc) and the user does not have to click more than once on the search-tab and then start writing anyway so we hope this is a good solution.
The interface looks like this:
In this screenshot you can see that the top area is the search box. You enter a search string and the results are shown below. Before we explain the result section we should also point out that you can do more advanced searches by expanding the "Advanced"-button next to the search field. It allows you to narrow the search more in detail:
The fields should be easy to understand and we will not go into them in more detail.
When you have performed a search the results are shown below and divided into tabs (Contents, Pages and Assets). This gives you a very effective overview and each tab is then in itself a searchable paged list.
Notable here is the tabs (#1) in the top which allows you to show different search result areas. Also the "in result search"-field (#2) which allows further filtering of the lists and last the paged control under the table which allows for result navigation when the result is large.
A great new feature is that if you click on an item in the result it opens that item in the correct tool but if you return to the search tab the original result is kept. Another great thing is that assets are included in the search and that you get a small thumbnail for images in the result.
If you want to replace texts in Infoglue you can use the replace function after you searched for matching items. You search and then click on the “Replace”-link next to the search field. Then enter a replace-text and mark which contents you want to perform the replace on. Then perform the replace by pressing the “Replace”-button. Note that a replace allways creates a working copy of a published version before replacing and that you have to publish all replacements later the normal way. Replace should be used with care as you can really mess up your content.
