Using custom markup in content type

Hi,

We have written some custom markup (actually a form) in a self defined content type. The form is displayed correctly, when one creates an instance of this content type, but whatever is entered in the form fields gets deleted when 'save' is pressed. We have tried to follow the guidelines in the manual, but since this feature is not very well documented (page 30 in the developers manual), we have been unable to find a solution to our problem.
